Getting Hitched...Highpoint Style
We are always excited about the opportunity to participate with you in preparing for marriage. It is an honor to work with couples and help provide tools to have a God honoring and healthy marriage. If you are getting married and would like a Highpoint minister to provide pre-marriage counseling and/or perform your wedding ceremony please review the guidelines below.
Guidelines:
1. Highpoint Church ministers
request a four month minimum time period between the first marriage counseling session and the wedding date in order to have adequate premarital counseling and preparation time. In cases where this is not available special arrangements can be made.
2. Pre-marriage counseling is generally four one-hour sessions with the minister as schedules allow.
3. Highpoint Church ministers reserve the right to discontinue pre-marriage counseling and/or NOT officiate the wedding at any point if he determines the couple is not ready for marriage at that time.
4. Highpoint ministers are NOT wedding planners/coordinators.
5. The marriage ceremony must be God honoring with appropriate music and dress.
6. Highpoint Church ministers reserve the option to decline attendance to the wedding rehearsal/rehearsal dinner.
Payment Guidelines:
1. Pre-Marital Counseling Fees: Highpoint Church requires a fee of $100 per couple due at the first appointment. (Checks should be made out to Highpoint Church. Online payment is preferred.)
Couples getting married in Tennessee are eligible for a marriage
license discount from the state of around $60 after the completion of 4
hours of pre-marriage counseling. Our ministers can provide the
necessary documentation when needed. Please know that our sole
purpose in providing pre-marriage counseling is help couples start
their marriage in a God honoring and healthy way - not to provide a
discount. If for any reason the 4-hour requirement is not met
Highpoint ministers are not obligated to sign off on the discount.
2. Minister Payment: An honorarium of $250 for the minister should be given directly to the minister at the last pre-marital appointment or at the wedding ceremony.
3.
Minister Expenses: If the wedding takes place out of town the couple is responsible for the minister’s travel expenses, lodging (if needed) and a $30 per diam for meals. The minister reserves the right to make his own travel arrangements.
By submitting this form you are agreeing to all the terms listed above. Thank you for including Highpoint Church in your wedding plans. We pray that the process is helpful and your marriage is blessed.
