Mission Opportunities in Memphis

Highpoint has partnered locally with Memphis Union Mission, Ministry of the Heart and Life Choices.  Memphis Union Mission (MUM) ministers to the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of men, women and children who are homeless, addicted and in crisis. Ministry of the Heart works within the prison system to share the gospel with and disciple prisoners.  Life Choices provides pregnancy help medical clinic services to girls and women throughout Memphis.

 

Through a partnership with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Highpoint is also a formal adopter of Overton High School.  The vision of FCA is to see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of athletes and coaches.  Through our Overton High School FCA partnership Highpoint ministers to players and coaches throughout the school's athletic program.  Since adopting the school formaly through Memphis City School Board we have expanded ministry to include tutoring and ACT prep as well as ministry to faculty, admnistrators, cultural and performing art students and more!

 

In addition, every Christmas Highpoint leads Christmas in a Red Bag, a ministry designed to bless single parents.  Nominations are taken for single parent families inside and outside of Highpoint during October and November.  The families are adopted by Highpoint families and big red bags are delivered full of gifts to show how much we love single parent families. 

 

Opportunities:

• Memphis Union Mission Shopping Team- purchase and prepare food to be cooked at the mission
• Memphis Union Mission Cooking Team- cook food every other month at the mission
• Memphis Union Mission Serve Team- serve the food to the men at the mission
• Memphis Union Mission Sound Team- set up sound system and run audio every other month at the mission
• Memphis Union MIssion Worship Team- lead worship and share the gospel with men at the mission

• FCA Site Leadership Team- lead, organize, and execute FCA events at Overton High School
• FCA Coordinator Team- coordinate all activities for a particular short or team at Overton High School. Coordinate volunteers that will participate in game attendance, devotions, mentoring, and tutoring
• FCA Mentoring Team- build personal relationships with individual students and love them towards God and success
• FCA Tutoring Team- respond as needed to help students out by tutoring them in various school subjects
• FCA Utility Player Team- show Christ's love in a practical way by attending games practices or other events and pitching in as needed.
